Can Fast Food Be Healthy?

Time and access to healthy choices are no longer problems for a person who’s trying to eat better and healthier foods. It’s possible for people to make healthy food choices even if they just have a brief time in which to prepare their foods. The first thing to see is that it is often that healthy choices don’t always signify a demand for two-hour meals. A person could select healthy foods that are fast and easy to prepare in your home or to pick out of a takeout place. Cities often provide restaurant guides within their telephone books that display full-page menus suggesting what a particular restaurant or drive-thru offers. At places like McDonald’s and Hardee’s, it’s possible to find consumers that are worried about their carbohydrate intake. This has prompted the restaurants to provide different options in their hamburger choices. Hamburgers can be ordered with no bun, for example, and fruit and yogurt are included on the menu together with fresh salads. Many restaurants offer salad options either as side orders or as complete meals. Often, a salad of fresh vegetables with chopped ham, roast beef or chicken is more attractive than regular menu items. Salads are particularly attractive in the summertime since they are milder on the digestive system. If home preparation of food is favored, the alternatives for healthy choices increase. Seeing a local grocery store or supermarket emphasizes the amount of healthy choices that can be found. Fresh fruits and vegetables are more varied than ever before due to improvements in transport and preservation methods. All types of cuisine may be ready quickly because of the choices of fresh goods rather than frozen foods. There are many options among frozen foods as well. The demand for healthy frozen dinners and other meals has increased along with demands for more variety in frozen food offerings. Any frozen food aisle at almost any supermarket will reveal as many healthy food alternatives and poor choices. The decision is left up to the person. Restaurants that feature foods in season cultivated by local farmers offer very healthy and affordable options. Some of these kinds of restaurants will create their own recipes for healthy food choices. This gives the consumer with a completely fresh selection and motivates them to go to the restaurant again.

We hope you got insight from reading it, now let’s go back to "ropa vieja" (shredded beef- panamanain style) recipe. To cook "ropa vieja" (shredded beef- panamanain style) you only need 10 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you do that.

The ingredients needed to make "Ropa Vieja" (Shredded beef- panamanain style):
  1. Use 1/4 cup cooking wine
  2. Take 6 small tomatoes
  3. Use 3 lb beef (brisket or similar - tasty and easy to tear apart or shred)
  4. Get 1 small onion (i prefer to add 1/2 or 1tsp powdered)
  5. Use 1 can tomato paste (4oz or 113g)
  6. Prepare 1 each salt n pepper (to taste)
  7. Get 3 clove garlic, minced (or garlic powder)
  8. Use 1 small bell pepper (you can play with the colors, but green is whats usually used for this)
  9. Take 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  10. Use 2 tbsp sugar (or just enough to lower the acid)
Instructions to make "Ropa Vieja" (Shredded beef- panamanain style):
  1. Cook the brisket on boiling water until soft and tender. Seasoned the water with salt, garlic and onion (if using powder), pepper. I usually leave it like 1-2 hours.
  2. Once its cooked, remove it from pan and let it cool. Separate or tear out the meat. Dice tomatoes in small cubes, and bell pepper too.
  3. On a frying pan, add ur vegetable oil and put your tomatoes and bell pepper (if u're using garlic cloves and onion instead of powder u should add them now too). I like to squeeze tomatoes with a fork to get all the juices and flavor.
  4. Add your brisket on the pan and stir with veggies. Add the tomato paste and the cooking wine. Let it boil, add the sugar and taste it in case it needs more salt or seasoning.
  5. Add enough beef broth (water left from cooking ur beef) to the sauce. Cook it until sauce is ready and thickened.
  6. Serve and enjoy!
  7. ** This is our traditional version of a very popular dish in Panama, and other countries like Colombia and Venezuela. I have tried it also with chicken and pork and tastes good too!
  8. This is great served with white rice or rice and lentils with a simple salad, but i prefer it with caramelized ripe plantains for that sweetness touch (great flavor contrasts in ur mouth)
  9. You can also do pita pockets with your leftovers (which i do all the time and will share recipe later); or serve it with corn tortillas (not the mexican style but the ones similar to "arepas" that are fried) for breakfast or as snack.

Ropa vieja, a dish famous in Cuba and popular throughout the Latin Caribbean, features thin strands of shredded beef in a rich and flavorful sauce of tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, and spices. This recipe updates the classic technique for improved efficiency and flavor. Ropa vieja is traditionally served shredded very finely so I don't leave any large chunks. Shredded beef and vegetables that resemble a heap of colorful rags - that's Ropa Vieja. From the Spanish term for "old clothes", this is one of Cuba's most popular and beloved dishes.
